Welcome to Lumi. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our AI-powered emotional wellness platform. By creating an account or using Lumi, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, please discontinue use of the service immediately.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Lumi. By using the service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

2. Not a Medical or Emergency Service

Lumi is a wellness and self-help tool, not a medical service. The AI assistant provides general emotional support and conversational companionship. It is:

Not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment
Not a replacement for therapy, counseling, or psychiatric care
Not equipped to handle medical emergencies or mental health crises
Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or having thoughts of self-harm, contact emergency services immediately.

Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you read, heard, or discussed with the Lumi AI assistant.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account
You are solely responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
One person may not create accounts using false identities or on behalf of others without authorization

4. Subscriptions & Payments

Lumi offers both free and paid (Pro) subscription plans. Paid plans are billed through Stripe or PayPal.

Billing: Monthly subscriptions are billed in advance each month. Yearly subscriptions are billed in advance each year.
Free Trial: When offered, the 7-day free trial allows full Pro access. You will not be charged until the trial ends. You may cancel at any time during the trial to avoid charges.
Day Pass: The 24-hour Day Pass grants temporary Pro access and expires automatically after 24 hours. It is a one-time purchase and does not auto-renew.
Auto-renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel before the renewal date.
Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain Pro access until then.
Refunds: Refunds are handled according to the policies of Stripe and PayPal. If you believe you were charged in error, please contact us.
Price Changes: We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days notice. Existing subscribers will be charged the new price at the next renewal cycle.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use Lumi for any illegal purpose or in violation of any local, state, national, or international law
Harass, abuse, threaten, or harm another person through the service
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the service, other accounts, or computer systems or networks
Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to access the service
Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the service
Share, sell, or transfer your account to another party
Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or other malicious code
Use the service in a manner that could damage, disable, or impair the service

6. AI-Generated Content

The Lumi AI assistant generates responses using large language model technology. You acknowledge that:

AI responses are generated by machine learning models and may contain errors or inaccuracies
AI responses do not reflect the opinions or recommendations of a licensed professional
The AI may not always understand the full context of your situation
You should not rely solely on AI-generated content for important decisions
We continuously work to improve the safety and quality of AI responses, but cannot guarantee all outputs will be helpful or appropriate

7. Intellectual Property

All content provided by Lumi — including the AI assistant, audio tracks, text, graphics, logos, and software — is owned by Lumi or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our prior written consent.

Content you share in conversations (your messages) remains yours. By using the service, you grant Lumi a license to process your messages to provide the AI conversation and emotional analysis features.

8. Data & Privacy

Your use of Lumi is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information. Please review it carefully.

9. Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or factors beyond our control. We are not liable for any losses resulting from service interruption.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

Lumi and its AI assistant are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind
We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
We are not liable for any harm resulting from reliance on AI-generated content
We are not liable for any decisions you make based on information provided by the service
Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or if we believe your conduct is harmful to the service or other users. Upon termination, your right to use the service ends immediately.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated Terms on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of Lumi after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction where Lumi operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation, and if unresolved, through binding arbitration.
